The Mammoth
Project type
puppets, public art
Date
2017
Location
Dahkóta land - Minneapolis, MN
After thousands of years, The Mammoth has returned from extinction to help us talk about the elephant in the room: the climate emergency. Designed and built by Twin Cities puppet master Christopher Lutter-Gardella and Alison Heimstead, this 90% to scale woolly mammoth puppet, operated by two hidden puppeteers on bucket stilts, is an instant sensation at marches, rallies, and events.
With a mission to help make climate-related demonstrations safer and more fun for attendees, as well as more impactful of a spectacle, The Mammoth is here to say, "Fossils Against Fossil Fuels!"
